Player of the Match - Heather O'Reilly

Women's soccer legends pledge to help new league

It has been nearly four years since the WUSA, the women's professional soccer league born out of the success of the popular 1999 Women's World Cup, suspended play and disappeared from the crowded sports landscape. So it seems about right that we are now hearing that a new league, a leaner and wiser version of the old model, is planning to start up in a little more than a year.

Melandri.. the true fighter

What a race! it was great to see Rossi, Lorenzo and others fight in Motegi. Pedrosa made a very good start, amazing start for a wounded rider, Stoner wasn't very lucky but he made a good result in the end.

But what amazed me most was Macio, he rode like a devil, he could fight with Stoner with his inferior bike, he seems very motivated and love to see him back to smile again even with the updated parts for his bike is still uncertain (from Kawasaki).

After the race he told the press that he came to Japan by his own expense, he us happy with the result, he loves to see his engineers to smile again after a very tough start of the season, he said he only expected in the middle of the group, around 10th or something, but he made into 6th, AMAZING!

I can't wait for the next race, I wonder if Kawasaki already give him an updated part for his bike, as Macio said that his bike's software need to be fixed in order to be able to control the bike more properly.

Stormers Change 6

Stormers coach Rassie Erasmus has made six changes to his team who play the Highlanders at Newlands on Saturday.

Injury has forced prop JD Moller and wing Tonderai Chavangha to be replaced by Schalk Ferreira and Dylan des Fountain respectively.

The side sees a brand new halfback pairing in the form Bolla Conradie and Tony Brown, who gets his first start of the season against his old team. Tiaan Liebenberg also gets a run at hooker after recovering from injury with Ross Skeate taking over from Adriaan Fondse at lock.

Captain Jean de Villiers and Skeate havn't practiced this week because of flu and d! iarrhea.

Kubica at last!

Polands Robert Kubica led teammate Nick Heidveld over the line at the Circuit Giles Villeneuve to win the Canadian Grand Prix, and give the BMW team a brilliant 1-2 finish. The result also gives Kubica the lead in the world championship. Red Bull racings David Coulthard was 3rd. McLarens Lewis Hamilton managed to eliminate himself and his main rival kimi Raikkonen from the race in a bizzare incident in the pitlane, Lewis didn't see a red light at the pitlane-exit, and hammered into the back of Raikkonen's Ferrari.

A Cape Town send-off for Volvo Ocean Race

Sailing enthusiasts in Cape Town are busy making plans to watch the big departure ceremony of the Volvo Ocean Race.

The eight yachts will embark on the second leg of this grueling round the world race in reverse order of last race positions, which means Telefonica Black will leave first. She'll be followed by Delta Lloyd, Team Russia, Telefónica Blue, Green Dragon, Ericsson 3, Puma and leg one winners Ericsson 4.

The departure ceremony starts at 11h45 and the boats will head for the race course. The second leg, from Cape Town to Cochin in India, gets underway at 14h00.

I'm sure Capetonians will be able to work out where the best viewing areas will be to watch the spectacle. Here's the race course diagram...

Liverpool continue title hunt

Liverpool have managed to gain some ground on log leaders Manchester United in the English Premier League.

The Red's got a 2-0 win against Chelsea in a game that was riddled with inconsistent decisions from referee Mike Riley.

The biggest incident involving Frank Lampard being sent off for a lunge on Xabi Alonso. With the Blues a man down Liverpool got all their men behind the ball.

Chelsea eventually cracked under the Red's pressure when Fernando Torres ended his goal drought since October as he headed the ball into the net in the 89th minute.

More drama in the refereeing department came when Yossi Benayoun was gouged in the back by Jose Bosingwa and the line-mans failed to action.

However Torres stole back the spotlight when he scored the winner late into stoppage time.

The victory was Liverpool's first at home since their boxing day win against Bolton. The result leaves them f! our points behind United who have a game in hand.

Ajax look for precious league win

Ajax Cape Town face Thanda Royal Zulu at Newlands on Thursday night.

The Urban Warriors are in desperate need of three points as they look to breathe life into the end of their PSL campaign.

Ajax are currently in eight place but they are not certain of retaining that spot as the teams below them are only a few points behind them.

Thanda, meanwhile are facing a different battle as they are in a relegation spot so they will not give the Cape side an easy task of beating them.

It has been! the teams threatened by relegation that have been Ajax's crutch this season and captain Brett Evans says this could be because the smaller teams know more about them.

"I think the biggest factor of why we might slip up against these teams is that they know the kind of football we play, and they are little more cautious, they sit back and defend. We obviously try and play our game and then it becomes a bit of a stalemate and it's frustrating," says the skipper.

Kick off for the game is at 19h30.

Badoer and Gene stay on as Ferrari test drivers

Ferrari has extended the contracts of test drivers Luca Badoer and Marc Gene. Badoer has been with the team since 1997 in the capacity of test driver, supporting the championship seasons of Michael Schumacher and Kimi Raikkonen. Even though Badoer's test mileage has diminished he clearly is a valued member of Ferrari. Marc Gene joined the Scuderia at the end of 2004. A quality tester in his own right, his on-track participation has been limited by testing restrictions and othe! r race obligations.

Nevertheless, having these two quality test drivers will assist Ferrari for the foreseeable future as their current duo of Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen have never been very strong development drivers. This will continue the necessary balance even within the restricted testing era.

Kjaer Refuses To Rule Out Utd

Palermo defender Simon Kjaer says he would not turn down a move to Manchester United just because he is a Liverpool fan.

The Red Devils are reportedly keeping tabs on the Denmark international, who has been linked with a number of top clubs in the past, including Real Madrid and Liverpool.

While the centre-back and is a huge Reds fan, he has admitted that if his chances to play regularly at Old Trafford were greater he would opt for the Red Devils.

The 20-year-old told Tipsbladet: "If United just had two defenders whilst Liverpool had three, I would choose United without hesitation.

"It does not he! lp to choose with the heart in that kind of situation. I am a professional."

Jose Hits Out At Wenger And Benitez

Inter Milan boss Jose Mourinho has stoked up old rivalries with former Premier League adversaries Arsene Wenger and Rafa Benitez, claiming he has to win trophies to keep his job.

The former Chelsea manager, speaking about the pressures of managing in Serie A, drew less than complimentary comparisons to the recent records of the Arsenal and Liverpool managers, saying:

"[Arsene] Wenger has been Arsenal's coach for 15 years but he hasn't won even a Carling Cup for six years. [Rafa] Benitez hasn't won a league title in six years but he continues to be Liverpool's coach.

"This is not the Italian mentality. To stay here I must continue winning and do well."

Mourinho guided Inter to the Serie A title last season, and has also lifted the Supercoppa Italiana since taking over the reigns of the Nerazzurri.

And in an interview with Inter Channel, Mourinho, whose inflammatory c! omments will no doubt be greeted tersely in London and Liverpool, admitted he is called a 'bausica' - a Milanese idiom for an arrogant, foul-mouthed person.

"Am I a 'bauscia'? Yes, I know what it means," he said.

"Certainly all the fans know I give everything for the club and also to them. I couldn't work any other way, that's how I am."

Mourinho has certainly lived up to that moniker since replacing former Inter coach Roberto Mancini, receiving three red cards and two touchline bans during his short tenure in Milan.

But after picking holes in Benitez and Wenger's CVs, the two-time UEFA manager of the year did manage to find some kind words, for one of his own players.

Speaking ahead of the eagerly anticipated clash against Genoa, which sees two of Italian football's most attack-minded sides go head to head, Mourinho heaped praise on midfielder Esteban Cambiasso.

"I would need two Cambiassos, one playing 10 m! eters further forward and the other 10 meters behind," he said! .

Alberto Aquilani To Make Liverpool Debut Against Arsenal

Rafael Benitez has confirmed that Alberto Aquilani has been included in the Liverpool squad for tomorrow night's Carling Cup match at Arsenal.

The midfielder has been recovering from an ankle operation since his summer move from Roma and made his first appearance in a Liverpool shirt in the reserves' 2-0 win against Sunderland last week.

Aquilani, who was bought to replace Xabi Alonso, is now expected to make his senior Liverpool bow in the fourth-round tie at the Emirates Stadium.

"He is improving his fitness, so he's in the squad," Benitez, the Liverpool manager, sa! id. "He cannot start at this moment but he will be there and maybe we can give him some minutes. If it's possible, we will try to use him."

Benitez believes the Italy international will add a new dimension to his team. "We can see in every training session that he has quality, game intelligence and good movements," he said. "He is a different kind of player for us. We talk about using Steven Gerrard deeper sometimes, but maybe in Aquilani we have a player who can play there and pass the ball really well in the final third."

Aquilani is relishing the prospect of playing a part in Liverpool's season, having witnessed the atmosphere at Anfield for Sunday's 2-0 Barclays Premier League win over Manchester United.

"It was good to play for the reserves because I haven't played for a long time, but to play for the first team is something different again and I am looking forward to that," Aquilani said. "I really want to play, but I need to be patien! t, I know the time will come for me.

"I will be ver! y happy when I make my debut. This is my job, it's what I am here to do, and I am looking forward to it."

Neither Gerrard or Fernando Torres are likely to be involved against Arsenal. Gerrard is still recovering from a groin problem, while Torres was only 80 per cent fit when he played - and scored - in the win over United. Both players are expected to return for Saturday's trip to Fulham.

Duhamel takes the fifth

By John Hopkins

Canada's Miguel Duhamel claimed a record-tying fifth Daytona 200 victory on Saturday, taking a dominant win in the first incarnation of the classic race run to AMA Formula Xtreme rules.

The Montreal racer rode his factory Honda CBR600RR to a 42.586-sec. victory over the similar, Erion-prepared machine of Kurtis Roberts. Duhamel's teammate Jake Zemke completed the podium for a Honda sweep.

"It feels great winning five," said Duhamel, who tied Scott Russell for the most 200 triumphs. "This year it felt like the Daytona 255. It just seemed like it would never end."

Duhamel started from pole and battled with Roberts and Zemke through the first 15 laps of the 68-lap race. But Duhamel took control after Roberts made his first pit stop, and a slow second stop for the Erion rider sealed the deal for the Canadian.

"I was really pushing it hard," Duhamel added. "Up until t! hat first pit stop I thought we would all regroup and be together for the whole 68 laps. I just put my head down and ran as hard as I could."

Danny Eslick finished fourth, one lap down on his MPTRacing.com / Suzuki GSX-R600, while Calgary's Chris Peris was a superb fifth aboard the Topline Printing / Bikecards.com Yamaha YZF-R6.

Kevin Lacombe of Granby finished 21st in his debut with the Blackfoot Suzuki racing team and Victoria's Oliver Jervis was 31st riding a Zlock Racing / Pirelli Kawasaki ZX-6RR.

Pascal Picotte dropped out after 22 laps on the Yamaha Canada / Picotte Performance R6 and Clearwater, BC's Alan Schmidt lasted only two laps riding the Gateway Powersports / Pirelli R6.

Who am I?

While channel surfing today I saw this very interesting statistic comparing a current Major League baseball player with the great Mickey Mantle. The topic of discussion was Great Switch Hitters, so that is your first clue but check out the comparison of numbers:

Mickey Mantle Through First 10 seasons:
.307 Average
320 Home runs
935 RBI's
1,113 Runs

Current MLB Player
.302 Average
288 Home Runs
961 RBI's
896 Runs

Not quite complete Mickey Mantle numbers but pretty close. Who am I?

Cincinnati Bengals Hard Knocks: Where are they Now?

The Cincinnati Bengals stole the show this year on HBO's inside the team Hard Knocks. The show highlighted a number of Bengals players some who we see on a regular basis and others who has disappeared. Lets find out where some of these guys have gone.

DeDe Dorsey
Dorsey stole the show with the highlight of the battle for backup RB with Bernard Scott, Brian Leonard, and DeDe. All three had very good pre-season campaigns and at the end of the show all three were kept on the team. However, the Bengals only kept Dorsey in an attempt to trade him. Dorsey was later cut to make room for Andre Smith. Dorsey was picked up by the Las Vegas Locomotives of the UFL and will make his semi-pro debut today in California.

Augustus Parrish
Gus Parrish was brought in to training camp to take the place of the first round hold out from Alabama star Andre Smith. Parrish was an undrafted free agent out of Kent State. Parrish was h! ighlighted on the show more often than not showing him getting burned on the edge by fourth string defensive ends. Parrish is still currently a free agent.

Fui Vakapuna
Another spotlight was placed on the Fullback situation between Jeremy Johnson, Chris Pressley, and Fui Vakapuna. Pressley was brought in as an undrafted free agent and Vakapuna was drafted by the Bengals in the late rounds. Fui was so nervous about making the team that on cut day he went to the stadium to try to find out what was going on. It was there that Marvin broke the bad new to him. Shortly after being cut by the Bengals Fui was signed to the practice squad of the Arizona Cardinals where he is still with the team.

Corey Lynch
The pride of Appalachian State Safety Cory Lynch was out shined this season by newcomer Tom Nelson. Despite playing in a number of games his rookie season Lynch was pushed out of his roster spot by Nelson and re! tained for the Bengals practice squad. The Tampa Bay Buccaneer! s took n otice of his football abilities as well as his good Samaritan activities and signed Corey off of our practice squad. Lynch has played in 2 games for the Bucs and has logged 1 tackle.

J.D. Runnels
Fullback J.D. Runnels was unceremoniously cut by Jim Lippincott at 6:00 in the morning early in training camp. As we all remembers Runnels was cut because it was "an ability thing." The 2006 Chicago Bears draft pick Runnels was unable to get picked up by another team for the preseason and is currently a free agent.

Kenny Watson
Although Watson was not a part of the Hard Knocks program, he was cut on the same days Runnels. Watson was unable to use his "Canton-like" ability to pick up with any team. On September 29th the Detroit Lions invited Watson for a workout but was not signed. Watson is currently a free agent.

C-Webb: Baggy Shorts and Much More

-Keefe

One of my all-time favorite basketball players is set to announce his retirement today. Chris Webber revolutionized the game, and if you don't think so watch an ESPN Classic game in the 80's or earlier and check out the shorts, socks, shoes, and hair cuts. Yes, it's safe to say C-Webb, along with the greatest freshmen class in college basketball history with Jalen Rose, Juwon Howard, Jimmy King, and Ray Jackson, changed the game. But more than just looks and trends Webber became one of the very best players the last generation.

Webber played the majority of his career in the Western Conference that was just a breeding ground for the best power forwards in basketball. Six of his first ten years (before the knee injury) he played in the West, as a rookie with Golden State and then most successfully with the Sacramento Kings. Night in and night out he put up monster numbers while facing off against the likes of Karl Malone, Charles Barkley, Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, Rasheed Wallace, Dirk Nowitzki, Elton Brand, and on and on. Webber was right at the top of that list with those current and future Hall of Famers. This poses the question.

Is Chris Web! ber a Ha ll of Famer?

I am a huge stat guy. Maybe I take them into account more than I should, but some numbers simply can't be ignored. You've all seen this before by now as any article about Webber is mentioning it. He is one of just 6 players in NBA history to average 20 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists, along with Elgin Baylor, Wilt Chamberlain, Billy Cunningham, Larry Bird, (all in the Hall of Fame), and current star Kevin Garnett.

Career averages: 20.7 pts., 9.8 reb., 4.2 asts.

How incredible is that? Look at the company he's sharing. Only 4 players have finished their careers with those kinds of numbers. Does it get a whole lot more exclusive than that? If you weren't sure whether C-Webb should be in Springfield, those numbers are pretty convincing. Some would argue about team success, and how truly great players make everyone else around them that much better. Webber turned around 3 franchises in a row. Golden State had 34 wins the year befor! e trading on draft day for Webber, then had 50 in his rookie year, returning to the playoffs. In fact his rookie year, 93-94 was the last time the team hit the 50 win plateau. The Washington Bullets were in the mist of a long playoff drought, but in his 3rd season with the team (96-97) he led the team in points and rebounds (over 20 & 10) and back to the post season for the first time since 1987-1988. Then perhaps his greatest turn around was with the Sacramento Kings.

The Kings had made the playoffs once from 86-87 to 97-98. Immediately the deal to send Mitch Richmond and Otis Thorpe to Washington for Webber paid dividends. The team made the playoffs in the West each and every year he was in the state capitol. Although he never advanced to the NBA Finals he did lead the Kings to a franchise record 61 wins in 2001-2002 where they lost in 7 to the eventual champion Los Angeles Lakers squad. The Kings had a 3-2 lead in the series just to see it slip away. I'll ! give them the title had they gotten by LA seeing as how the La! kers wal ked past the Nets in a clean sweep. That was the closest Webber ever got to winning the championship in the NBA.

Getting close to winning a title in college, however, takes on a whole new meaning. Obviously Webber is famous for calling time out his sophomore year against Eric Montross (former Celtics 1st round pick), and UNC when they didn't have any left in the NCAA Championship game. Michigan was down 73-71 at the time, in fact he traveled first and there was no call, then he called the time out they did not have. Clearly a mistake, but there is no guarantee they win the game if he does not take the TO. It's a misnomer that the Wolverines cut the nets down if C-Webb knows how many fulls and 30s they have left, they were still down 2. I'm not making excuses for him! , that's just a fact.

Despite not winning a ring, I say Chris Webber has done enough to make the Hall of Fame. Charles Barkley, Karl Malone, Patrick Ewing, John Stockton all played their entire careers without winning a title. It's not a prerequisite for making the Hall. Take a look at some of the accomplishments by Webber in his storied basketball career, and tell me what you think.

Running blog of the PIR, Tuesday, 2/3

Welcome to Tuesday's episode of PIR. Sorry for not blogging yesterday. I did, but when I went to publish it on the blog, somehow an hour's worth of blogging disappeared. I had some good stuff in there too, so I'm hoping I'll get to recycle it into today's blog.

The contestants are just being announced for the first round of bidder's row. No one has fallen yet, which sucks, but yesterday the first woman they called apparently didn't realize the show was starting. They had to call her name twice. I wonder what would've happened if she didn't react the second time either. Do they just move on and draw a new name? Has that ever happened before?

Okay, first item up for bid is a desktop touch screen computer. Pretty sick, Bluetooth and everything. Apparently you'll never want to leave the house. I say $2400. Nadine goes with $1500. Too low. Rory with $1800. Okay. David with $1925 and Kristine elicits a scream from David with $1926. And Nadine wins. Wow, I'm o! ff to a horrible start. This is incredible. Now before we go any further, yesterday I wrote that I was noticing a trend. Second prize is always a car. Okay that theory just went to shit. Nadine can win…A NEW CARRRRR! Ford Mustang, this thing looks incredible. So does the chick sitting in it. I wish that came with it.

We're looking for a price that's JUST over the price of the car. So Drew is going to keep giving her amounts and when she thinks that's too much, she yells, "THAT'S TOO MUCH!" And wow, we just had a screw up. Drew was hitting a button to reveal a price, and when he hit the third button, the third AND the fifth prices both turned over. So Nadine apparently knows too much. And she's fallen in love with the fifth price so we're skipping over 3 and 4 and going right there. $25,981. Drew just talked her into seeing the fourth one in case and she almost bit. Let's see what happened. She's wrong. Wow she was way wrong. It was the third one that was over.
So here we go with the next contestant, it's Sarah Bo! lin and she's freaking out. OMG. She just jumped into Rory's arms and they had to blur out her ass crack. That was disgusting. Sarah's not the worst looking thing I've ever seen, but she's got "more to love", and that "more to love" was just bursting out of her jeans and into the eyes of the millions of senior citizens at home. Somewhere pacemakers are going off and grandparents everywhere are clutching their chests in horror. Second item up for bid is beach equipment from SportsStuff. Lounges to be exact. Here's what bothers me. You've got this hot model laying around on this crap, and she's wearing a wet suit. I don't understand that at all. When would a hot chick like that ever lounge around a pool or beach in a wet suit. She'd be a bikini that looks like something I floss with every night. Actually that's a lie. I don't floss every night. Just ask my dentist. Although I was told that for someone who doesn't floss I have remarkable ivories. How do you like them apples?

Kristine won. She's cute. Definitely looks high maintenance though. And naturally she's bidding a Jimmy Chu handbag and shoes and stereo equipment. This is a quick game. She has to determine if the prices should stay the same or be switched. She decided to switch. She's right. Good for her. I'm not surprised. When Drew asked her she goes, "Well, it's Jimmy Chuuuuuuu" and then said switch it. She knew the whole time. She probably just bought that shit this morning before she came. She might even be wearing Jimmy Chu right now, but her handbag is under her seat. Let's just hope her money doesn't go missing as if she left her bag hanging around at a college baseball party somewhere in Boston.

Third item up for bid is a digital camera. I'll say $700. Terri just joined us, she goes $950. Alright Sarah is freaking out. She just $852. WTF is that. $1520 for Rory. Why not $951? Last dude bid a buck. And look at that. Rory is officially an idiot. Had he bid $951 like I s! aid he would've won. Instead Terri had a short trip at bidder'! s row…by default. It's bedroom furniture. Which reminds me of a prize from yesterday that you obviously didn't get to read about because of blogspot screwing me. The last woman to win on bidder's row had a chance to win…get this…a StarWars themed bedroom set. I can't believe she didn't just walk off the stage. Honestly, what the hell is that. First off she's a chick, second off we have no idea if she has kids, and third off, how is that a game prize. You're telling me that someone can go on there and win a car, and this woman is trying to win a StarWars themed bedroom set? How is that even comparable? I wouldn't told Drew forget the game, I'm just gonna go and get focused on spinning the wheel. This bedroom set is merely a distraction. Ridiculous.

Terri is playing the grocery game. She needs between $3.31 and $4.31 to win it. She's going with the Clorox wipes. They're $2.99. She's screwed. The can of soup just put her over by $.21. That's a tough way to go out. But it was! only a bedroom set.

Time to spin the wheel. She barely made it around once. That's awful. Only got $.20. Serves her right. I swear this woman has never done anything athletic in her life. She's shaped like a bowling ball and the wheel was moving no faster than a retarded, paraplegic hamster was running on it. Nadine just rocked $.85. Solid. Kristine is up. Too much. Still hot though girl. I'd love to bang her in those Jimmy Chu's.

So the commercial for the Grammy awards came on. I'm sick of this ad for one reason only…it ends with one of the Jonas brothers screaming, "…you babayyyy." Am I the only one that finds these guys nauseating? They're so terrible. They played at the NCAA football national championship game and were absolutely obnoxious. I can't stand watching them stare into the camera like they're hot. They'll be nothing in two years. Take it to the bank.

Rory just won the fourth bid. Trip to St. Thomas at stake here. Rory is way t! oo chill right now. He might still be scarred by Sarah jumping! into hi s arms and him going to catch her but coming up with nothing but her ass cellulite. I can't blame him, it was awful for the viewers at home and anyone sitting in the front row. Freeze frame game. I like this. So many possibilities. How much is the trip? I think it's $6546. He just missed it. Now we'll probably have to wait. Nope, he thinks it's only $3695. What a retard. The crowd just booed. Well, I was wrong too. It was the next number coming up.

Fifth bidding here. Basketball jerseys and equipment. Portable hoop in there, six jerseys. Sorry eight jerseys. Drew can't count. Ryan is new to the game, he bid $450. Are you kidding? It's not a freaking huffy hoop pal. Jesus, Sarah just won. She's going nuts. I can't tell if she's on something or just a loser. Christ it's a new car. She's just dropped to the ground and started doing the bicycle. She then jumped in Drew's arms. No ass this time. I think CBS made her pull her shirt down and tuck it in. Which was conside! rate. Someone definitely said something to her. She keeps pulling her shirt down. It can't go down any further at this point, but she keeps pulling on it. Now she's gyrating. The last thing she should do is gyrate. It's not flattering. The game is Gas Money. I don't get this at all. Apparently she has a group of prices, and she has to avoid picking the price of the car. And she just guessed the price of the car. She lost her money and the car. Tough luck. And she just asked if she gets to spin the wheel. Seriously? No Sarah, sorry, you're the first person in the history of PIR that won a bid and played a game, but won't get to spin the wheel.

I love these Hillshire Farm commercials, by the way. Everytime I see one I end up chanting the jingle at the end. "When I say Hillshire you say Farm…Hillshire, Farm, GO MEAT!!!" Great stuff. Check out a couple of my favorites below…

Check out the guy pitting at the :20 mark of this next one.

Last item for bid is a hammock. Not even sure. Highest bid is $600. I say $601. And I won. Just in the nick of time. Ryan won. He's pitting hard. He wore a dark shirt to hide it but it's not saving him. I can't wait to see him spin the wheel. I hope he has full moons by then. It's tough though. He's just resting his hands on his hips and you can see it. Those might be full moons already. I don't even care about the game right now, I can't stop looking at his pits. Oh man just caught a closeup. Those moons are so full. He just lost. Whatever. I only care about the wheel coming up. This is going to be awesome when he raises his arms. I wonder if he'll ask for a new shirt. I totally would. I'm not even sure what I'd do in his position. Do you try spinning the wheel with a low starting position? He'l! l look like an idiot, but I guess you have to determine what w! ill look worse, a pathetic spin or full moon pit stains. You know I think I'd just rock the full moons. There can't be any greater thrill than absolutely ripping that wheel. I wonder what the record is for rotations around. I'd find out and try and break it. It's gotta be at least five. Women spin it two with ease, so a real man must be able to get like six or seven.

Alright back from commercial, here we go…

He went with the latter and gave it a half ass raise. You can tell he knows he's pitting, he definitely did it real quick and got his arms down as fast as he could. But it worked out, he got $.85. That's solid out of first position. See Rory had the right idea. He's wearing a loose zip down sweatshirt. He could be pitting tremendously in that grey shirt he's wearing underneath, but we'll never know. And you know what? Rory just received a compliment from Drew on his spin. It was ridiculous. First one went around almost five times. I played it back to count,! came up short but still strong. Second one barely got four, but still, if Drew is giving you props, you must've done something solid. Maybe seven is a bit optimistic, but I bet I could definitely get five, maybe six if I get into it. Rory didn't look all that big, so I think I should be able to take him, I'd probably get six. Yea I'd definitely get six. But Ryan held on, so him and his moons are heading to the showcase showdown against Nadine.

Showcase 1:

Inflatable kayak. I'm already passing this. Again, the model is wearing a swimsuit, but now she has a life vest on. This is downright rude. Nice shot of her treasure chest but we can't see anything upstairs. It's frustrating. Alright this just got better, two off-road motorcycles. Oh wow, a Nissan Extera. Alright what's the theme here? I don't get it. Outdoor transportation? The kayak sucks. I feel like that was a Mike Lowell toss-in. Wow she just passed it. This bitch wants to travel. What an idiot.! I'm bidding $31,000. Ryan bid $29,000.

Showcase 2:!
A set of golf clubs. Nadine can't golf. She's too fat. She'll be lucky to be able to putt, never mind hit a driver off the first tee. A trip to Pebble Beach with a round of golf with caddy and cart and a golf pro. Pretty cool, but again, Nadine can't golf. They should have sent her to a mini-golf course. A nice one though. And now she's getting a trip to St. Andrew's and a round of golf there. What a waste of a showcase. She won't even use this. She bid $35,000. Did I miss a car in there somewhere? Nadine might be double the actual price of the showcase. She must be mailing it in, that's horrible. I can't wait to see how far off she is. I'm going $16,000. Watch me.

Alright here we go…actual price of Ryan's showcase is $33,452. I was close. I'm money. Nadine…here it is…actual retail price of her showcase IS…$20,486. Unbelievable. She didn't quite double down, but that was horrible. So Ryan and his pit stains win. He's jumping up and down right now but refuses t! o raise his arms, he officially looks like a fruitcake. He needs to just cope with the fact that those pit stains are awful and embrace them, because he's now sacrificing his integrity on national television. Wow, he's keeping his arms so close to his body. This is awful. It's finally over, thank god it was getting hard to watch.

Now the other day I wrote about the chick who bid $12,098 for the one person outdoor sauna and dubbed it the worst bid in the history of PIR. In a way, I was right, b/c it certainly had to be the worst bid ever on bidder's row. But in the showcase, check this out. If I've posted this before, I don't apologize, because it's that good. This guy was so flustered. Bob was getting frustrated and even told him to "think about that." And I loved what Gay did after that. That's a chick who knows what she's doing. Enjoy…

Jimmy the Greeks UFC 103 picks

I'm taking a dump and don't want anything to crust up, so I'm just going to post winners, round and method of destruction. Also, I'm including Tarrific Tara's picks...much like Bill Simmons posts The Sports Gal's weekly choices. I was prompted to do this on Wednesday night when, completely unprovoked, she messaged my phone with the following: "My picks for tonight are Diaz, Maynard, Quarry and Condit." For those of you that don't know, UFC hosted a live event on Spike TV leading into episode one of TUF 10 with Kimbo Slice. And for those of you that still don't know, Tara was perfect with all four picks. I went 2-2. We'll see how she does for the NFL in Week 2. I'll post those either later tonight or tomorrow morning.

Jimmy the Greek

Belfort via (T)KO over Franklin in the 2nd round
Cro Cop over Dos Santos via (T)KO (referee stoppage) in the 2nd round
Martin Kampmann over Paul Daley via submission (armbar) in the 1st roun! d

Queen of the South 1 Rangers 2

Steven Naismith's first-half strike and a late counter from substitute Nacho Novo ensured Rangers survived an uneasy Co-Operative Insurance Cup third-round tie against Queen of the South at Palmerston Park.

Naismith had the easiest of tasks in knocking into the empty net in the 16th minute after Kris Boyd had set him up following a defence-splitting pass from Pedro Mendes.

However, the goal was not to prove a springboard for a comfortable win for the Govan outfit.

The Irn-Bru First Division side rallied but striker David Weatherston! missed good chances either side of the interval before Novo, on for Jerome Rothen, sealed the tie with 11 minutes remaining.

There was still enough time for Doonhamers defender Robert Harris to grab a consolation in the dying seconds and who knows what might have happened if there had been more time available to the home side.

The crowd of 6,120 inside Palmerston Park, many of them standing on terracing behind one of the goals, gave a real cup-tie feel to the night.

In the 12th minute the visitors should have taken the lead from Rothen's corner from the right but full-back Steven Whittaker bulleted his header from eight yards over the bar.

But Rangers forged ahead four minutes later through Naismith following a move that stemmed from Mendes. The Portuguese midfielder bought himself a moment of time on the halfway line with a clever turn and sent Boyd racing down the right-hand side with a well-weighted p! ass which breached the Queen of the South defence.

Boyd c ontinued his run into the box before sliding the ball across the six-yard box to allow his fellow former Kilmarnock striker an easy tap-in.

Moments later, only a saving tackle by Queen's defender David Lilley inside the box prevented Naismith grabbing number two.

In the 26th minute Boyd was yellow-carded by referee Willie Collum for simulation after he had gone round Queen's keeper Ludovic Roy, a decision that was heartily cheered by the home support.

And moments later Collum ignored a penalty claim from Boyd when he went down inside the box in a clash with Lilley.

Four minutes from the break the home side missed a great chance to draw level. With a fine first-time pass from in his own half, Steve Tosh sent Weatherston racing clear of the static Rangers defence but the Palmerston striker, with Madjid Bougherra closing at the edge of the box, lifted the ball over deputy keeper Neil Alexander only to see it run! wide of the target.

The home side continued their pressure in the second half and with some purpose.

Two minutes after the restart Weatherston had another opportunity when a smart Barry Wilson pass put him in against Alexander again, but from 10 yards out and Bougherra pressurising, he blasted his shot of the Ibrox keeper's legs.

In the 56th minute Roy took no chances when tipping Thomson's curling shot from 30 yards over the bar and Queen's survived the subsequent corner before going hunting for the equaliser again.

Moments later, though, Sasa Papac should have sealed the tie when he found himself unmarked at the near post but the Rangers left-back failed to get enough on his header from Rothen's cross and the ball sped past the far post.

Former Celtic player Rocco Quinn replaced Tosh in the 64th minute after the veteran Doonhamers midfielder was taken off on a stretcher following a challen! ge from Steve Davis before Derek Holmes headed over from Wilso! n's c ross.

Roy touched Bougherra's flashing header from Rothen's free-kick onto the bar and over for a corner, and then moments later made another save from Boyd's header.

The home side refused to accept their fate, though, and in the 72nd minute Holmes' overhead-kick inside a packed Rangers box had Alexander diving to his right to push the ball round the post.

However, the tie was effectively over in the 79th minute when Rangers substitute Novo, on for Rothen four minutes earlier, raced clear of the Palmerston defence to take a Davis pass and slip the ball past Roy.

But Queen's were not to be denied a last moment of glory as Harris scored a fine consolation in the final seconds with a long-range strike.

SAS Liga Sunday Review

FC Copenhagen moved into the top three in the SAS Liga with a 2-1 victory at AaB.

Two goals from Atiba Hutchinson (70 and 81) did the damage for the visitors after Daniel Fredheim Holm had fired AaB in front in the first half.

The win sees FCK take third place in the standings from their opponents, with the pair both three points behind leaders Odense BK.

Brondby slipped off the pace with a 4-1 hammering at the hands of Silkeborg.

Goals from Christian! Holst (two), Jim Larsen and Rajko Lekic put the home side in the driving seat with Jan Kristiansen netting Brondby's reply.

Sonderjyske were 2-0 winners at FC Midtjylland thanks to strikes from Anders Egholm and Kenneth Fabricius.

Winless Randers picked up only their second point of the season in a 1-1 draw with Koge.

Al Kuwait 2-1 South China

Al Kuwait edged out South China 2-1 in Thursday's AFC Cup semi-final first leg.

Although the Hong Kong champions will be boosted by Guy Ambassa's stoppage-time strike.

Second-half goals from Abdulla Marzooqi and Ismail Al Ajmi put the home side into a commanding position.

But, with time running out, defender Ambassa converted from close range to hand South China a lifeline ahead of next week's second leg at Hong Kong Stadium.

Al Kuwait took the game t! o South China from the start at Al Kuwait Stadium and came close to an opener after 14 minutes as Samer Al Martah headed over.

South China came close after 31 minutes as captain Li Haiqiang drifted a free-kick just wide before Al Kuwait's Jarrah Al Ataiqi was denied by South China goalkeeper Zhang Chunhui just before the break.

Marzooqi headed over from a good position following Husain Hakim's cross just before half-time.

But the Bahrain defender made no mistake three minutes after the restart as he met another delivery from Hakim to open the scoring with a close-range header.

Al Kuwait continued to dominate and second-half substitute Al Ajmi saw his header with 16 minutes remaining saved by Zhang.

But just five minutes later the Oman international rounded off a strong run from Walied Ali with a close-range finish to double the lead.

South China improved in the closing stages and were rewarded in the first minute of stoppage time as! Ambassa turned home from close range after Al Kuwait failed t! o clear Li's corner.

Celtic 0 Hamburg 1

The Uefa Europa League game between Celtic and Hamburg at Parkhead on Thursday Oct 22 2009.

A lamentable passage for Scottish football was extended on Thursday night when Celtic's hopes of progress to the knockout stages of the Europa League were dealt a serious blow by Marcus Berg's clinical 62nd minute strike.

The jest, inspired by Everton's thrashing in Lisbon, that the Goodison club intended to switch leagues to the SPL, vanished from the lips of the home support as Celtic slumped to a defeat which leaves them – like Rangers in their Cha! mpions League group – with only a single point to show for three games in their section.

The news that Hapoel Tel Aviv had demolished Rapid Vienna 5-1 brought little cheer to the Celtic support, given that the Israelis have yet to visit Parkhead, which resounded to the sound of jeers accompanying the home side from the field at full time. This, alas, has become the familiar climax to Scottish sides' fruitless efforts in the European arena.

A perfect night for football in the east end of Glasgow was not matched by the sort of cacophonous multitude to which we have become accustomed on European occasions.

No doubt the recession – and the alternative of live television – are factors in persuading spectators not to forego the comforts of home or the conviviality of the pub, but there must be concern about the allure of the Europa League when such a boisterous temple of the game as Celtic Park find! s its congregation dwindling, as was demonstrated by the cl! usters o f unfilled seats for this event.

Nor did it help that Celtic came into this game with the meagre total of two wins from seven competitive home games this season, or that of the three European fixtures played here since July – in the Champions League qualifiers against Moscow Dynamo and Arsenal and in this tournament against Rapid Vienna – none had yielded a victory.

A distribution of flags to spectators in the Jock Stein Stand, where the ranks of Hoops fans were most densely packed â€" helped make a display of fervour before kick off, but the rendition of You'll Never Walk Alone was short of its usual potency, though still a good deal louder than what would be experienced at most stadiums across Europe, especially for this bastardised tournament.

Tony Mowbray opted to go with Gary Caldwell and Stephen McManus i! n central defence, with Mark Wilson at right back in preference to Andreas Hinkel, whose recovery from injury had not proved sufficient to earn him a starting place, but who was granted a seat on the bench, and Lee Naylor on the left, in place of the injured Danny Fox.

Barry Robson and Landry N'Guemo were paired in central midfield, with Scott Brown acting as link to the solo spearhead, Scott McDonald, and Shaun Maloney and Aiden McGeady on the flanks.

The Hamburg line-up featured a face rather too familiar from Scotland's thwarted attempt to reach the World Cup playoffs by beating the Dutch at Hampden Park in August, as Eljero Eliah – scorer of the goal that beat George Burley's side – lined up in right midfield.

The opening moments set the tone for a remarkably scrappy first half as N'Guemo played an errant pass to allow the dangerous Jonathan Pitroipa to test Artur Boruc's alertness with a crisp shot that was! clutched firmly by the goalkeeper.

The quantity ! of squan dered possession by both sides was remarkable for a game at this level and the overall air of profligacy was emphasised when Brown – unmarked near the back post when Caldwell's back header fell perfectly to him – tried to pick his spot behind Frank Rost only to watch in disbelief as the ball skidded off his boot and drifted wide.

The half continued in this disjointed fashion and although Celtic could claim to have fashioned the better chances, they were unlikely to savour the memory. Aside from Brown's sliced effort, Shaun Maloney trapped a dropping header from N'Guemo eight yards out and turned the ball tamely across the box having evidently not realised that he was gloriously alone in front of goal.

McDonald, too, could not find the target from the same spot as Brown's earlier attempt when he, too, got the benefit of a knocked on corner kick. It was a measure of the paucity of entertainment in the first 45 minutes that t! he loudest cheer of the evening saluted Susan Boyle when she made the half time lottery ticket draw.

Both teams emerged for the restart with the urgency they had lacked before the break, with Celtic carving an immediate opening with a cross from McGeady which only just eluded Brown. Hamburg's reply was a drive from Elia, who had been set up by Pitroipa, which rebounded from the crossbar.

On the hour mark Mowbray acted to pep up his attack, replacing McDonald with Giorgios Samaras, but the breakthrough was achieved by Hamburg as Celtic were cut open through the middle by a Ze Roberto break which ended with the Brazilian slipping a pass into the path of Ber, who finished precisely with – a raking drive beyond Boruc.

Mowbray's final throw of the dice was to send on the Northern Irish pair of Paddy McCourt and Niall McGinn for Maloney and Brown.

McCourt almost repaid the ploy immediately with a characteristic! spurt and shot which swept narrowly beyond the far post, b! ut it wa s a forlorn flurry on an evening which ended with the Hamburg fans taunting their opposite numbers with the chant of "Glasgow Rangers!" the only circumstance, perhaps, when we will hear the name of a Scottish club sung in triumph in Europe during the current campaigns.

Lens 0-2 Toulouse

Lens remain in the Ligue 1 relegation zone after goals in each half from Moussa Sissoko and Andre-Pierre Gignac earned all three points for Toulouse.

Sissoko opened the scoring after 35 minutes and Gignac doubled the lead 10 minutes into the second half.

Lens had the first chance of the game after nine minutes from a Sebastien Roudet free-kick from the right which reached Abdoulrazak Boukari at the far post but his header was over the bar.

Lens threatened ag! ain when Kanga Akale's free-kick into the area was met with a header by Alaeddine Yahia who beat goalkeeper Yohann Pele to the ball but it went the wrong side of the post.

Toulouse took the lead when Paulo Machado played a good ball in from the right which found Franck Tabanou but his shot crashed against the crossbar.

The rebound fell for Sissoko who shot into the empty net to give his side the half-time advantage.

Lens struggled to create chances in the second half and Toulouse got their second goal through Gignac who beat two defenders before curling his shot into the top corner of the goal.

Toulouse went close to claiming a third when Machado's cross was met by Sissoko with a far post header which came back off the post with goalkeeper Vedran Runje beaten.

Good defensive work by Sissoko was wasted when the ball found its way to Roudet whose well-hit shot was saved by Pele.

The Toulouse keeper was again in the right place to keep! out a shot from Boukari who had beaten his marker before unle! ashing h is effort.

Overdue win for Ljubicic

Ivan Ljubicic collected his first ATP World Tour title for more than two years, at the Grand Prix de Tennis de Lyon.

The experienced Croatian was the only non-Frenchman in the quarter-finals but he proved a thorn in the side of the host nation and completed his mission with a 7-5 6-3 victory over Michael Llodra.

Ljubicic, a former world number three, looked to be on the slide when he dropped outside the world's top 70 earlier this year. But he has recovered impress! ively and is now close to returning to the top 20.

The 30-year-old's last title came in June 2007, and the first of his nine main tour crowns came in Lyon back in 2001.

Wild card Llodra missed break-point chances before dropping his serve in the final game of the opening set.

Ljubicic, the third seed, then trailed at the start of the second - but four games in a row put him well on the way to victory.

The Croatian is the third player aged 30 or over to win an ATP Tour title this season, after Radek Stepanek and Tommy Haas.

Napoli, non multato Hamsik a 140Km/h? Vigili allibiti

di Giorgio Mosconi
Fonte: tuttonapoli.net

Fonte: siciliatoday.net 18/10/09 ore 18.00 il palermocalcio.it

#083 Monografie 3: Emanuele Dotto

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Busta 1: RTL 102.500
Busta 2: DAHLIA TV
Busta 3: RTI – Reti Televisive Italiane
Busta 4: THEBLOGTV
Busta 5: SKY ITALIA
